LA making a u-turn?

Here comes another great incentive for people to buy hybrids in Los Angeles, only one of the most polluted cities in the western world. Or not..
Only days after LA made the commendable move of deciding to reward hybrid drivers with free parking, the City Council are now having a re-think. I mean, it makes sense, right? But no, taxes look set to be spent on yet more hours debating this. Estimates are that lost parking fees will cost the city around $46,000 annually. You could see how that would hurt to a city who’s estimated annual municipal budget is in the billions of dollars, right? Especially when the budget hole is looking like half a billion for the coming year, time to make some cutbacks on jobs, maintenance and.. hybrid drivers!
Lets hope common sense prevails on this one and at the very least the current situation (Prius, Civic Hybrid and Escape Hybrid drivers get free parking) is not undone.
